Tenderfoot day camp

When: March 9, Sunday  2:00pm to 4:00pm

Who: 1st Year Scouts and those working on Tenderfoot, like the Alligator Patrol
(in place of the hike on the 8 th, if your scout is only doing one Troop event this weekend).

Bring: Scout handbook, Water and what 10 ESSENTIALS you may have on hand.

Where: Bailey Canyon in Sierra Madre.

DIRECTIONS to Bailey Canyon (it is at about 481 W. Carter):

From Sierra Madre Blvd. turn north onto Lima St. (Kentucky Fried Chicken) Going up Lima, the street will divide. Keep - turn left--this turns into Carter Ave. Go one block to Grove.

Carter ends near the parking lot entrance of the Park.

( Lima St. is 3 blocks East of Michillinda, with a stop sign.)

THE 10 ESSENTIALS

Any time you hike, bike, backpack or venture into the wilderness, remember to always carry the 10 Essentials:

 ____ 1. Water
____ 2. Map & Compass
____ 3. Flashlight/batteries
____ 4. Knife, pocket
____ 5. First Aid Kit, small   (Medication if any you are taking)
____ 6. Extra Clothing  (Jacket)      (and-or rain poncho/solar blanket )
____ 7. Trail food - and if told to Matches
____ 8. Sunscreen/Sunglasses
____ 9. Rain Gear - Also can be two large trash bags or rain poncho/solar blanket
___ 10. Whistle (and Mirror unbreakable)
 

Other important items:

Even though there are more than ten items the troop's scout essentials, are often cited as the 10 Essentials.
Each scout shall be responsible for having in their possession the required Scout Essentials at each camp-out or activity of the troop unless advised otherwise by their junior or adult leader.
