Jackstraw Trail camp

Let’s go backpacking!  Are you tired of early morning clouds and rain?  Ready for a cool and clear star-lit night sky?  This weekend trip is for you.  We will be backpacking to Jackstraw Trail camp in the beautiful San Bernardino  National Forest.  The camp is 4 miles from the trail head.

We will be meeting in the Pritchard Hall parking lot, Saturday morning at 8am and returning Sunday afternoon at 4pm.  The weather will be mostly sunny with nighttime lows in the 50’s and day time highs in the 70’s.

Remember to carefully consider what you bring.  Carrying something you will not use four miles uphill is never any fun.  Check your Scout Handbook for equipment and clothing lists,  here is a short list of must haves:

            Hiking boots or shoes

Hiking socks (2 pair inner and outer)

What to bring:
Light weight jacket or sweatshirt for early morning
            Sun Hat
             Cup
At least 2 liters of water
10 essentials   except matches and map
Sleeping bag and  pad
Trail snacks
Bowl/spork
Correct hiking shoes and extra socks.
External backpack frame or an internal frame is acceptable, and needed to properly carry all the gear.
Scouts will need to carry part of a tent and he may be given food or fuel carry also.

Your share of group food and tent will be distributed on Saturday morning, so save room in your pack.

Please let me know by email to Mrs. Gaffrey at gail . gaffrey at g mail . com  if you are going to attend.  I will be buying food tomorrow so if you want to eat, I’ll need to know you are going to be there.  We are limited to 12 people, so the first twelve to respond get a spot.

Don’t miss this great trip.
