Henninger Flats Backpack Trip

When:  April 12-13  Sat.  to Sunday

Meet at Church at 8:00am  Sat.
Return Pick up at Eaton Canyon at 12:00 PM, noon.

We will be hiking to Henninger Flats campground.  Miles  5.4  Round Trip, Camp is at  2550 feet.
    Total elevation gain  1360 feet

Cost: $20.00 when you arrive

Nature Center, Eaton Canyon, end (North) of the parking LOT!

What to bring:
At least 2 liters of water
10 essentials except matches and map
Sleeping bag and  pad
Trail snacks
Bowl/spork
Correct hiking shoes and extra socks.
External backpack frame or an internal frame is acceptable, and needed to properly carry all the gear.
No daypacks.
Scouts will need to carry part of a tent and he may be given food or fuel carry also.
 

Return
Pick up are 12:30 PM, if at picking up your Scout at the Eaton Canyon Nature Center.

Miles: Round trip is about 6 miles.

There are multiple camping spots with picnic tables, No fires.

There is a Fire Station there and a mini-museum, with some historical artifacts.

Henninger Flats is at  2,600 feet  in the San Gabriel Mountains in the Angeles National Forest.
It was part of the Mount Wilson Toll Road.
Henninger Flats Forestry Center is also used for conservation education
