Cub Scout Academics and Sports Programs, Belt Loops and Pins from usscouts.org
Once your Scout has completed a Belt Loop or Pin, print the requirement from the links above, sign and date it with the the Scouts name then turn this in to your Den leader. The Belt Loop will be awarded at the Next Pack meeting. Verbal requests for awards are not accept in Pack 373. With your Den Leader's ok, email request with the above info may be accepted. To keep the Pack meeting moving and not over load our awards program, there is a limit of 7 belt loops per Pack meeting. If more than 7 were earned, hold the others till the next Pack meeting please. Den Leaders track belt loops earned, as a belt loop is only awarded once in the Pack, no matter the Rank.
The Cub Scouts Sports and Academic Program is one method of addressing the third aim of Scouting: the development of physical, mental and emotional fitness. Fitness includes the body (well-tuned and healthy), the mind (able to think and solve problems), and the emotions (self-control, courage, and self-respect). As in most activities in Cub Scouting, this is not meant to be a highly competitive program, instead, the boys are encouraged to DO THEIR BEST.
The Sports and Academic Program is an optional program for all Cub Scouts. It is not part of the normal requirements towards ranks (except were used in obtaining the Webelos Sportsman and Athlete activity badges). Its purpose is to assist the Scouts in learning a new skill, or improving one they already posses.
Loops and pins can be are earned by Wolves, Bears and Webelos in Pack 373.
Complete details on using the sports program are
contained in the the Leader Guide for Cub Scouts Sports and Academics..
The same belt loop may be earned once within each rank, but only one will be awarded in the Pack over your Pack membership time. The belt loop may need to be worked on again as a Webelos do to the linkages between Belt Loops and Webelos Activity Badges.
A Cub Scout earns their belt loop by doing their best to learn about the information in the appropriate sports AND by participating in the activity in practice or play with their den or pack or in their community or as an individual Cub Scout working with an adult.
Please note there are special requirements for the BB-Gun - Archery belt loop.
Complete details on using the sports program are
contained in the the Leader Guide for Cub Scouts Sports and Academics.
Sports pins are given in each sport (see Sports Belt Loops) for Cub Scouts to recognize fitness development, normal over about a three month period. The Cub Scout is encouraged to track his own progress.
The same belt loop may be earned once within each rank.
A loop is earned by the Cub doing his best to
learn about the things in the book and by investigating the subject area
in practice or in play with his den or community or as an individual working
with an adult.
Academic pins are given in each subject (see Academic
Belt Loops) for Cub Scouts to recognize academic development over about
a three month period.
